Today, I've released a new 5-track EP that I made together with my man Sliderinc, called 'Freedom'. We had a lot of fun making these songs, which show me from my more electronic and experimental side. How are you?I just returned from a trip to Mumbai, India. What an amazing city! I've met a lot of great people and obtained a lot of fresh inspiration. So probably more on that later. Besides that I've been working on the music for a dance play called 'Freedom', which will have it's premiere on March 8th, and I'm currently working on the music for a documentary.On other news, next Monday I will have an in-depth interview about my musical inspirations at De Rode Hoed in Amsterdam (in Dutch only). The final show last week was awesome! With special guests GMB, JayColin, Jenny Lane, Maurino Alarc�n and Pete Philly and of course my band, it was one big party. The crowd was great too; thank you all for checking us out! See below a group picture we took just before showtime.Right now I'm working on several new projects. I'm composing the music for a documentary about a mother who's trying to raise her five children in Amsterdam-Noord, I'm working on a remix of a classical concerto, I'm working on new tracks with several vocalists and I just started to work on the music for a dance show called 'Freedom'. Soon I will also start to record for my new album. My plan is to drop it before the end of this year but it could be the beginning of next year as well...Have a great, inspiring and creative 2012!Perq.

The fifth and last video of my album 'Across' has just been released! It was shot in one single take by Ruben Wiegerinck and Derek van Egmond. 'Me Despido' means 'I say goodbye' and that's exactly what I will do. At least; for a while :-) We will give one final show on December 29th after which I will get back to the studio to work on new projects. More about that final show tomorrow! De Volkskrant mentioned that "Composer Perquisite (formerly of Pete Philly & Perquisite) wrote a fascinating arrangement of parts of Monteverdi's opera 'l'Incorazione di Poppea' for a baroque ensemble, with drums and dj." Last Wednesday Giel Beelen played songs of my new EP 'Lotus' in famous TV show 'De Wereld Draait Door'. Check the clip below; the part starts right at the beginning of the show at 1:50.

The Lotus EP, which contains my new single 'I Rely On Me' as well as four new songs I made together with Renske Taminiau and Jasper Slijderink for Dutch movie 'Lotus', will be available on i-Tunes this Wednesday. The film has been directed by Pascale Simons and stars Monic Hendrickx as well as Jack Wouterse, Georgina Verbaan, Birgit Schuurmans and Nasrdin Dchar. It will have it's premiere at the Dutch film festival on September 26th where we will also play the songs live with my band.

The video of 'I Rely On Me' will be released this Monday on youtube.

Renske Taminiau, Jasper Slijderink and me together created the soundtrack for Dutch movie 'Lotus'. The movie will have it's premiere at the Dutch FIlm Festival in Utrecht on September 26th where we will also play the songs live. From October 13th onwards the film will be screened in theaters nationwide. Untill that time you can check the trailer right here.

The movie was directed by Pascale Simons and stars Monic Hendrickx, Jack Wouterse, Nasrdin Dchar, Birgit Schuurman, Raymond Thiry and many others.

Imagem is an originally Dutch company with offices in The Netherlands, London and New York and has signed the repertoire of artists like Vampire Weekend, Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake and M.I.A. Tonight the documentary 'Erop of Eronder' will be aired on Dutch television. 'Erop of Eronder' tells the story of the Comedy Train, a collective of Dutch comedians where also Hans Teeuwen, Najib Amhali and Raoul Heertje are part of. The documentary was directed by Holland's famous and notorious documentary director Michiel van Erp and the music was done by yours truly.Tonight, Sunday June 5th, 22:30 at Nederland 3!

Bevrijdingsfestivals + Berlin

This weekend was great! On Thursday we played the freedom-festivals of both Amsterdam and Rotterdam, only to travel to Berlin the next day for our first German show at Postbahnhof. On Saturday we did an extra suprise show at Berlin beach club Yaam and on Sunday we played live at German radio station Fritz Radio. Tomorrow, May 5th, we'll play at the Freedom festivals of both Amsterdam and Rotterdam. In Amsterdam we'll play at the main stage at the Dam square at 5pm. In Rotterdam we'll play at the main stage at Parklaan. I will also bring special guests GMB and Maurino Alarcon. Come check us out!

Directly after these two shows we'll travel east to the beautiful city of Berlin. On Friday the 6th of May we'll play at Fritz Club / Postbahnhof. On sunday we'll also play for Fritz radio. It will be the first Perquisite show in Germany ever. Hope to see you there!Perq.

A Song In One Hour

Time for another update! Last weekend we did three radio performances. On Saturday we played four songs live at Radio 6, on Monday we played at Radio 5 and last Sunday we were asked to create a song in one hour for radio 3FM. This was the first time ever we've actually composed and wrote a song together with the full band. You can check the result below!

Noorderslag

I'm just back from Groningen were we've played at the Noorderslag Festival! Unfortunately things didn't go as planned as the whole setup of my keyplayer collapsed during 'Dreams Of Gold', the third song we did... However, we tried to make the best of it and just kept on going.

It's been quite crazy the last three weeks. We've rocked shows in Heerlen, Utrecht, Zierikzee, Arnhem, Groningen, Deventer and Breda and did a lot of promotional gigs too. The video was directed by Elwin Bes and created by Emilio de Haan & Rogier de Bruin. I'm very proud on the result and I wanna thank everyone that was involved in making the video!

It's been crazy hectic lately. Good things are going on though! I made really cool new songs with Renske Taminiau, Sanguita and Cato van Dijck (The Souldiers) for my solo album and I'm busy with the last recordings right now. Next week I will start with mixing and arranging all of the tracks. Also the full Perquisite live band is formed! We've already started rehearsing and the first try-out shows have been booked. September 18th we'll play in Rotown, Rotterdam and September 30th we'll play in Merleyn, Nijmegen. Tickets for Merleyn are already being sold by clicking here. Expect the unexpected! The official release party will take place in Amsterdam, after which we'll embark on a tour through Holland, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. More on that soon! Besides all that I'm working on the film music for Mama right now, a new film by Sanne Vogel and Beri Shalmashi. The film will be premiered at the Dutch Film Festival in Utrecht this September. But more on that later! Speaking on movie's: Carmen van het Noorden, where I composed the music for as you might now, has been selected for the 6th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival which will take place this August in Korea. Sounds interesting, right? That's it for now. Stay tuned!

Spring Update

It's been quiet a while but that doesn't mean nothing has been going down. My new studio is finished and I've wrote and recorded a lot of new songs the last two weeks; among them really cool new songs with Janne Schra and Jenny Lane. Stay tuned for my album; it will probably drop this October... a live tour is in preparation as well; more on that later!Besides that I'm working on a remix for German popgroup Culcha Candela. Yesterday I've recorded with Sanguita and Urita and last week I've recorded with Torre from De Staat. Things are going pretty well and I think I'm halfway with the recordings for the album right now. Welcome on my new website! As you can see I've posted my myspace-updates from the last four months but besides that this site is brand new!

Look around in the about-section where you can find my bio, some pictures, my video's and a press section. I'm especially happy with this section as it contains all major articles that were written about me and Pete Philly & Perquisite for the last 5 years. When you click on the thumbnails, you can read them all full screen.

The next section, discography, obviously contains my own releases but also lists the compilations where Perq or Pete & Perq tracks have been included on. Besides that it contains a complete overview of all remixes and guest-productions I did so far. When you click on a thumbnail you will see the tracklisting of each release. The tracks you can listen to are underlined. When you click on them they will automatically open in the player above.

The next category, projects, is an overview of all other stuff I did: film music, music for theatre plays and a list of workshops and lectures I did. Next is the live-section. Right now it only shows past performances since there are no upcoming shows planned yet as I'm still working on my album. When they will be booked though they will first be listed in this section. Last but not least you have the store-section and the connect-section which both speak more or less for themselves.

I'VE WON A 'GOUDEN KALF'!

Totally unexpected I've won the 'Gouden Kalf' for best film music for 'Carmen van het Noorden' last Friday! Because we were playing with the Final Celebration Tour in Rotterdam at the time of the award ceremony I couldn't be there, but I heard the good news in the break of our show. Directly after the show was finished I drove to Utrecht and I've celebrated the award with the band at the festival afterparty. I'm very happy with it!!

NOMINATED FOR 'GOUDEN KALF'

I just heard that I've been nominated for a 'Gouden Kalf' for the music I composed for the movie 'Carmen van het Noorden'! The 'Gouden Kalf' is Holland's most prestigious movie award which is given out in 16 different categorie's each year. The other nominees for music this year are Vincent van Warmerdam and Fons Merkies. The award will be handed out this Friday on the Dutch Film Festival in Utrecht.

Tomorrow the official premiere of the movie takes place in Utrecht.Also check out my new video featuring GMB & Sanguita below!

'Dangerous Woman' is the first single of the soundtrack I did for Dutch movie Carmen van het Noorden. The film, which stars Tygo Gernandt, Sanguita Akkrum and Thom Hoffman, will be released at the Dutch Film Festival on September 24th. The soundtrack-cd, which features tracks I did with Duvel, GMB, Typhoon, Sticks, Jiggy Dj�, Turk a.o., as well as a lot of instrumental songs, will be released on September 28th through Unexpected Records.
